HOperating-Theatres-F-Type-Sliding-GRP-Doorospitals across the world are creating a new breed of surgery spaces called hybrid operating rooms. Hybrid operating theatres combine the surgical capacity of traditional operating rooms with the imaging capabilities of a catheterisation lab, two spaces that have traditionally been extinct.

Placing state-of-the-art imaging and X-ray equipment in an operating room allows for less invasive, safer procedures with faster recovery times for patients. As surgical areas continue to adapt however, the design of the operating theatre is becoming increasingly challenging with every aspect requiring careful planning.

Dortek have recently completed a number of these projects including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital & Harley Street Clinic Hospital in London and The National Heart Centre & NUH Medical Centre in Singapore. Hygienic GRP doors were installed in theatre areas with x-ray protection to accommodate x-ray equipment. Doors were also automated to allow staff to open and close them without touching to reduce the risk of infection.

Our doors are ideal for hospital environments because we can combine a number of key properties all in one hygienic door. Whether its x-ray rated, automated, fire rated, waterproof or hermetically sealing sliding, our doors offer a versatile solution for the new breed of hybrid operating theatres.
