On July 1 2020, a new organisation was launched to bring together all MFB and career CFA fighters. Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) serves metropolitan Melbourne and major regional centres – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state. In October 2020, Derrimut Station reached practical completion; it is the largest FRV fire station to be built since South Melbourne Fire Station was completed almost 30 years ago.
The $10 million Victorian Government-funded project is Australasia’s first five-star sustainable fire station on the Green Star rating system.
